Nemanja Maras is a Belgrade born and raised artist, primarily working as a fashion photographer with high interest in conceptual, socially active art.
Born in 1989. he showed interest in all forms of art, from drawing and painting to music and photography. His first contact with the camera was at the age of 6 when he got a compact film camera for his birthday, but the real interest starts in 2006. when he made an effort to buy his first DSLR camera.
In 2007. he stopped his music career and devoted his time to photography. He began collaborating with Serbian rap artist Struka, for whom he made over 7 album covers. Besides that he started experimenting with fashion photography, taking his high school friends as subjects.
In 2008. he enrolled at Belgrade University of Art, Faculty of Applied Arts, department of photography, but continued working and evolving on the side.
His first contact with the fashion world was through Bata Spasojevic, a Serbian fashion designer, with whom he started working on a two pages ad campaign for magazine FAAR, but continued to work with him for two more years as his official photographer.
After his first year of study and visiting the Arles photo festival in France in 2009, he found another passion in conceptual and social active photography. Inspired by the trip and experimenting with the double exposure he made “Not For Sale” series…
Before graduating he had already worked with many Serbian fashion designers, musicians, pop stars and movie stars, actors, dancers, art collectors, NGO’s, magazines and fashion companies.
In 2012. he graduated from the FAA as the graduated Applied Artist, and currently works as Art Director and photographer of the Wannabe Ltd. online magazine and as a freelancer.
